From classical to rockin' to "you've got to be kidding me".  I've got a wide range of favorite run songs based on my mood and pace and even time of day.  My apologies to the group Boston for not making my top 10.  You've gotten me through a lot of long runs.  And to rockers like Lady GaGa and Gwen Stephani - you too have given me "girl power" when I have needed it most.

Amy W.'s Top Ten Run Playlist

1.  Remember the Titans theme song (instrumental), Trevor Rabin.  I just think this is a beautiful score.  Almost 10 minutes of calmness.  I can hear my foot steps on the pavement.  Perfect for solo runs really really early in the morning.  It's really peaceful and the run becomes kind of organic.  Really.  The theme from "On Golden Pond" is just as pretty.

2.  Flora's Secret, Enya.  I haven't run to this in a while, but it is the first song that I run to in races.  I'm not kidding.  It is zen like and I don't get hyped up in the adrenaline rush and can just calm down during the first half mile and get my pace in place.  Now it's habit for me to program and play this one first.

3.  Africa, Toto.  Best song ever.  Loved it when I was 7 years old.  Love it when I am 39 years old.  Totally nostalgic.

4.  Only You, Yaz.  Another great nostalgic song from the high school 80's.  I can actually see me with my big bangs in my 1980 silver Volvo blasting this in my cassette player.  If you had only known me when I was that cool.  Ha!  And I actually had a great runners high while running to this song a few years ago in some later miles of a double digit training run.  Good stuff.

5.  Keep Me in Mind, Zac Brown Band.  My favorite current band.  I've seen them in concert 4 times in the last 2 years.  I can put every song in a shuffle and run long on Fridays or the weekends without having to think.

6.  And She Was, Talking Heads.  Any song that screams "HEY!" all through the song AND plays the cowbell is sure to get my attention.  This song is great and makes me happy.  I want to run just listening to it.  Another 80's flashback.

7.  Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice.  Oh no she didn't.  Oh yes.  Will it ever stop - Yo, I don't know.  I actually set my Pandora Radio to a Vanilla Ice mix on my last half marathon and set a p.r.  The songs were hilarious!  Think Vanilla Ice, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, MC Hammer, Will Smith, Michael Jackson.  You have no choice but to run lights out with a mix like this :)

8.  Give It Away, Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Bad ass song.  Reminds me of Texas A&M and some really good times.  I've passed a lot of runners in races listening to this song.

9.  Too Much, Dave Matthews Band.  Great energy and super cool singer.  I like this song best.

10. Strangelove, Depeche Mode.  I listened to Depeche Mode a whole lot in the 80's.  (Yes, I've got the 80's theme going.)  This song is great to power through a run.
